After having a blast playing the title role in Nic Dimond's smash production of Julius Caesar and Sims ("a shrewd mouthpiece") in Shade Murray's award-winning Detective Story, John Henry Roberts joined the ensemble in 2004, a few short months prior to the birth of his daughter Ada. This season he will play King Henry in St. Crispin's Day and Yang Sun in The Good Soul of Szechuan. This season he will also be playing the (ahem) titular character in Wilson Wants It All with The House Theatre of Chicago. His most recent work at Strawdog included playing Yasha in Kimberly Senior's hit production of The Cherry Orchard, and Dr. Gall in R.U.R. Other Strawdog credits include the title role in Nic Dimond's production of Richard III, Casimir in Brian Friel's Aristocrats, directed by Rick Snyder (for which he received a Non-Equity Jeff nomination for Actor in a Supporting Role), Frankie in our Jeff Recommended production of Sam Shepard's A Lie of the Mind, Crow in Tooth of Crime and Kulygin in our critically acclaimed production of Chekhov's Three Sisters, also directed by Kimberly Senior. Other Chicago credits include Leaving Iowa at The Royal George Theatre, To the Green Fields Beyond at Writers' Theatre, several Sketchbook appearances with Collaboraction, The Golden Election with Theatre Oobleck, Measure for Measure at The Next, and K., Greg Allen's adaptation of Kafka's The Trial, with The Neo-Futurists. His play True Dreams of Annie Arbor was produced by the Neo-Futurists in 1998.
