Aly recieved her B.A. in Theatre in 1997 at Knox College in Galesburg, IL. She then moved on to the marvelous town of Pittsburgh for her M.F.A. in Costume Design from Carnegie Mellon University where she designed "Ghosts", "Love's Labour's Lost", "A Little Night Music", and did her thesis work on the fantabulous "Lulu Play" by Frank Wedikind. While in the 'Burgh, Aly had the rare pleasure to work for Mister Fred Rogers making costumes and props for the neighborhood of make-believe. Aly moved back home to Chicago in 2000 and works as the Assistant Costumer and Head of Hair and Makeup at the College of Dupage in Glen Ellyn. Aly has designed costumes for "Laramie Project","History of the Devil", and "Lucky Stiff" for the college. She is also a member of the Buffalo Theatre Ensemble. Her design credits for BTE include: "The Weir", "Deathtrap", "Fuddy Meers", and "Middle Ages". Aly also teaches stage makeup at the college. Chicago design work includes: "Rosa Lublin" and "Speed the Plow" at the Piven Theatre Workshop; "The Three Lives of Lucie Cabrol", "Anna Karenina", and "King Lear" for Vitalist Theatre; "Bold Girls" and "Whistle in the Dark" for Seanachai; "Boy Detective Fails" for House Theatre; and "Violet Hour" and "Recent Tragic Events" for Uma Productions. Aly Greaves happily joined the ensemble in October 2003 after designing "Spring Awakening", "Julius Caesar" for Theatre on the Lake, and "Detective Story" for Strawdog. She lives nearby the theatre and enjoys flying kites, collecting fashion dolls and action figures (yeah, I am a geek...shut up), and drawing comics. She serves as the Costume Designer/Advisor for Strawdog Theatre Company productions and a member of the production committee.
